A Gift to Yourself for the Holidays

Setting aside time early on to prepare for holiday guests, entertaining and decorating will create time to enjoy the season rather than stressing over it.

Tag, you’re it!  Is it your turn to host the holiday dinner for the family this year but can’t imagine where to stash all of the day-to-day clutter you have no idea what to do with?  Are you pretty sure that your aunt & uncle from out of state will be bunking with you for at least a few days, but can’t figure out where they would even drop their luggage because the room they’ll be staying in is currently the "junk room?"  If you’d like to find your everyday things once the holidays are over, then maybe you’d like to consider some help from a professional home organizer.

The secret to enjoying the holidays is all in the planning & prep to allow for more free time when you need it most.  Realistically, there are only a few short months to schedule time to get things done like:

  • Find things conveniently in the kitchen for easy access

  • Organize linen closets, opening an opportunity to see if you need new sheets or towels

  • Sort through drawers & closets, getting rid of things that no longer fit or are broken

  • Relocating items to other areas of the home where they are typically used

  • Eliminate the things you no longer need, use or like

  • Have a garage sale or post unwanted items online to make $$ for the holidays

  • Rearrange the guest room so that it’s inviting and comfortable

  • Clean out the garage to utilize the space better for storing stuff

  • Take donations to favorite charities before everyone else does, only to find they’re FULL

  • Treat yourself to redecorating once you've found new space!

As a professional home organizer, and a member of NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers), I will work together with you through the process of making decisions, offering suggestions, coming up with new systems that work for you and identifying new strategies to keep things maintained.  Whether an event is approaching or it just seems that there must be an easier way to navigate your home, I’m here to help in many ways:

  • Clearing clutter and making space for the things you enjoy and use

  • Suggesting new ideas for systems, storage and productivity

  • Look at the possibilities of relocating certain items to another room for better use

  • Time management solutions and strategies

  • Talking through the decision making process

  • Assisting to eliminate items to circulate into the hands of another

  • Decreasing stress by clearing the distractions that are making you nuts

When things are in a place that makes sense to you, or a file is labeled in a way that you will remember what the contents are, then getting through your day will seem lighter.  New ways of doing things can also invite more smiles and more time for you.  Preparing for the holidays in advance can be your motivator, but when the New Year comes and your guests go their own way, you’ll still know where things are.  Enjoy the holidays for all of the excitement and warmth that they bring, enjoy the time with family & friends and discard the stress.  You can DO this!

Let me help.
